Centennial Theatre and The Vancouver Tap Dance Society presents
Savion Glover's 'Bare Soundz'
Thursday November 4
and Friday November 5, 2010 at 7:30 pm
The undisputed master of tap dance
Savion Glover makes his much- anticipated
visit to Vancouver. “Bare Soundz” will unleash
a concentrated cavalcade of varied percussive
footwork. The setting - three heavily miked,
island-like wooden platforms - is admirably
unadorned and free of any trace of showbiz glitz.
Bearded, dreadlocked and casually dressed,
Savion has developed a contemporary, funked-up
and post-bebop street style that pays discreet
homage to past masters while pushing his
chosen form of expression into the future.
After making his Broadway debut at the
tender age of 12 alongside Sammy Davis Jr.,
Savion Glover’s mastery of tap dance soon
saw him shoot to fame.
Over the years he has worked on a truly diverse
range of projects, from pop videos for P Diddy
to a film with Spike Lee, -not to mention picking
up a Tony Award along the way.
“An artistically fearless tap dancer.
The guy is a genius”. -The Seattle Times
